In Almaty, the dismantling of 165 tram poles will begin on July 25 to make way for the construction of a light rail transit (LRT) line, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Almaty Akimat, as part of the first LRT line construction on a section of Tole bi Street — from Momyshuly Street to Zharokova Street — old contact network poles of the former tram line will be removed. New decorative lighting poles will be installed in their place.
The current poles carry power lines, communication cables, internet provider lines, and other utility networks. Some utility owners have not yet relocated their lines, and the owners of some networks are unknown.
The Center for Traffic Organization (TsODD) urges utility owners to dismantle or rearrange their communications by July 24. Construction and installation work will begin on July 25. The project does not provide for placing existing overhead lines on the new poles after the work is completed.
