Police in Karaganda detained a driver who was removing license plates from his car to evade responsibility for traffic violations. The detainee turned out to be a 19-year-old resident of Astana, and the vehicle was placed on a specialized impound lot, according to infohub.kz.
According to the information media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the check was prompted by a video circulating on social media. The footage shows a Kia Rio without license plates running a red light.
Police reviewed city surveillance camera recordings, traced the car's route, and checked the area where the vehicle disappeared from camera view. Soon, patrol officers caught the 19-year-old Astana resident as he was trying to attach license plates to the hidden car.
The young man confirmed that he had removed the license plates to avoid responsibility for traffic violations. Administrative protocols were drawn up against the driver, and the car was placed on a specialized impound lot.
