A murder committed more than two decades ago has been solved in Astana. Two residents of Pavlodar region have been detained on suspicion of involvement in the crime, reports infohub.kz.
In June 2005, the body of a man with signs of violent death was found on the outskirts of the capital. At the time, the perpetrators could not be identified due to lack of direct evidence.
This year, criminal police officers revisited the case materials. They reconstructed the events and conducted a series of investigative and operational measures.
Piece by piece, they gathered evidence and established the involvement of two residents of Pavlodar region. In August, both suspects were detained. They confessed to the crime.
The investigation established that the murder occurred during a conflict when the men were intoxicated. Both detainees have been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
Kanat Nurmagambetov, head of the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, noted that solving crimes from past years and ensuring the inevitability of punishment remain priority areas of police work and are under special control of the Ministry.
