A criminal case has been opened in the city of Qonaev, Almaty Region, after a fatal road accident claimed the life of a minor. The child died at the scene after being struck by a Hyundai driven by a 22-year-old, according to infohub.kz.
The tragedy came to light from a post on the Instagram public page "egovpress." Residents of Qonaev, Almaty Region, reported that a car struck and killed a child in Microdistrict No. 10. According to locals, the street does not even have a sidewalk.
The accident occurred the previous day, on September 20.
"According to preliminary data, on September 20 at around 6:40 p.m., on one of the streets of Qonaev, a 22-year-old driver of a Hyundai hit a minor who was on the roadway. As a result of the injuries sustained, the child died at the scene," the Almaty Region Police Department said.
All necessary investigative measures are currently being carried out to establish the full circumstances of the incident. The investigation is under the supervision of the Police Department's leadership.
Earlier, it was reported that a tragedy occurred the previous day in Ekibastuz, where a child died as a result of a road accident.
