In the village named after Qasym Kaisenov in the East Kazakhstan Region, the sports portion of the Nomad Alemi festival took place, where a 70-year-old pensioner lifted a 30-kilogram sheep mock-up 40 times, reports infohub.kz.
Organizers invited participants to test themselves in six disciplines at once, many of which come from traditional nomadic culture. Tug-of-war, traditional archery, lyanga, lifting a sheep mock-up, belt wrestling, and asyk atu turned the festival grounds into a large sports arena, where children, young people, and representatives of the older generation found themselves side by side.
Lifting (squats) with a 30-kilogram sheep mock-up drew particular interest from guests. The challenge proved to be truly serious, yet age was far from the main obstacle for participants.
The true star of this venue was a 70-year-old apa, who managed to lift the 30-kilogram weight 40 times, astonishing not only the spectators but also the participants.
In total, the festival's sports events brought together more than two thousand people.
