Over the past day, eight outbreaks of dry vegetation fires were extinguished in the Akmola region. Firefighting efforts continue in the Ereymentau, Akkol, Shortandy and Bulandy districts, as well as in the city of Stepnogorsk, reports infohub.kz.
According to preliminary data, most fires were caused by lightning strikes during thunderstorms. Firefighters, local executive bodies and other specialized services are involved in fighting the flames. In hard-to-reach areas, aircraft from the Ministry of Emergency Situations are being used to help contain the spread of fire.
The situation is under special control of the department, with operational headquarters set up on site.
— The total area of all fires preliminarily amounted to about one thousand hectares. There are no casualties or injuries. No threat to settlements was allowed. I would also like to note that it is necessary to remain calm and trust only official sources, — said Yersain Koishybaev, official representative of the Emergency Situations Department of the Akmola region.
