Ninety dogs have been left unattended in the steppe near Almaty following the death of their owner, Vladimir Teplyakov, the founder of the animal rescue shelter Dog House "Tvardovsky House," according to infohub.kz.
Volunteer Arsen Kabdenov shared the story. According to him, Vladimir Teplyakov devoted years to these dogs, and now the 90 animals, left without their owner, are waiting for a new home.
In his post, Kabdenov wrote that he met the founder of Tvardovsky House a few days ago when he was delivering food to the shelter. Vladimir Teplyakov told the volunteer the history of the place: the shelter was founded in 2015 and named after his late son.
"Over the years, they had to move many times, face a huge number of problems, and literally start all over again each time. Now the dogs are in the steppe, without proper fencing, without the necessary conditions. I wanted to help, but building a large fence and enclosures in the steppe is currently unaffordable. So I suggested to Vladimir that we find new families for the dogs. He said he would think about it, called back in the evening, and said: 'I agree.' I started thinking about how to organize this process," Arsen Kabdenov shared.
Yesterday, October 7, he learned the terrible news — Vladimir Teplyakov died under unclear circumstances. The volunteer expressed his condolences to Vladimir's family and friends and noted that now they need to help his dogs.
"Right now there are about 90 dogs in the steppe. Cold weather is coming, and the man who carried all of this on his shoulders for so many years is no longer here. I want to try to do what Vladimir and I agreed on — find homes for these dogs," Kabdenov said.
