Eleven people accused of livestock theft have gone on trial in the Abai Region, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the Prosecutor General's Office, the information was published on the agency's official Telegram channel. The Beskaragai District prosecutor's office is taking comprehensive measures to combat cattle rustling and prevent such crimes.
"As a result of the investigative and operational measures carried out, the criminal activity of a group of individuals involved in repeated thefts of small livestock from one of the district's farms was stopped. Eleven individuals were found to have taken part in a series of thefts. In total, they stole 36 head of small livestock, and also attempted to steal another 14 head," the Prosecutor General's Office said.
After the investigation was completed, the criminal case was sent to court. During the trial, the state prosecutor presented evidence confirming the defendants' guilt in the crimes they were charged with.
The court sentenced all 11 defendants, finding them guilty and handing down various terms of imprisonment. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
