In the Abai region, a man driven by jealousy and alcohol appeared in court and was sentenced to community service, reports infohub.kz.
According to the press service of the regional penal system department, a 49-year-old resident of the Abai region, while at an event, became jealous of his wife's old acquaintance. Returning home intoxicated, he decided to confront her. A verbal argument broke out between the spouses, which soon escalated into a fight. During the quarrel, the man struck his wife several times in the face, causing minor harm to her health.
The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 20 hours of community service. The convict was registered with the probation service of the Zharma district of the Abai region. During registration, a preventive and explanatory conversation was held with him.
The man said he has been married to his wife for over 20 years. Together they are raising four children: the eldest daughter is 18, the youngest son is six. To serve his sentence, he was assigned to community service at the local akimat's office, where he works as a general laborer.
"I sincerely repent of my actions. Now I realize that I had no reason to be jealous. Due to my own lack of restraint and alcohol intoxication, I caused pain to the closest person. I am deeply ashamed before my wife, children, and relatives. One thoughtless act led to criminal liability and made me look at my actions in a new light. Now I understand that any family disagreements should be resolved only peacefully, by talking and listening to each other. I want to correct my mistake, regain my family's trust, and do everything to ensure this never happens again," the convict shared.
