In June, Russian companies sharply reduced supplies of aviation kerosene and gasoline to Afghanistan while increasing diesel exports. According to market data, aviation kerosene shipments fell more than 92%, gasoline by 34%, while diesel deliveries rose 42%, according to the Russian Business Center in Afghanistan, as reported by infohub.kz.
The decrease in gasoline volumes led to a sharp rise in fuel prices at Afghan gas stations. Market participants point to Rosneft (nearly 50% of gasoline exports), as well as Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat and Gazprom Neft as the main suppliers.
As a result, Afghanistan has become more vulnerable in the gasoline and aviation fuel segments, while its position on diesel has strengthened. This reorientation of supplies indicates shifts in Russian petroleum product export flows in the region.
