Kazakhstan's Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) has refuted information circulating in anonymous Telegram channels that relatives of convicted Perizat Kairat purchased several apartments in Dubai with criminal proceeds, infohub.kz reports.

The AFM press service explained that the theory that these individuals may have acquired assets using criminal proceeds had already been investigated but was not confirmed.

"During the investigation, a detailed analysis of all financial transactions was conducted, and the full picture of the laundering of stolen funds was reconstructed. Perizat Kairat spent the embezzled donations on cars, apartments (their renovation and furniture), branded clothing and jewelry, business-class flights and stays in luxury hotels, restaurant meals and entertainment. At the same time, no financial settlements with the A. family were identified. Moreover, the real estate mentioned in the publications was purchased back in 2011–2019, i.e., long before the creation of the 'Biz Birgemiz Qazaqstan 2030' fund and the start of Perizat Kairat's criminal activity. In general, the A. spouses have been buying and reselling real estate for over 20 years," the press service assured.

According to the AFM, the A. spouses lived and conducted business separately from Kairat and her mother.

"We clarify that under Article 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code, arrest and confiscation of property are permitted only when there is evidence of its criminal origin," the statement said.

The AFM added that the mere fact of kinship with suspects does not provide legal grounds for criminal prosecution and seizure of assets.

The trial in the high-profile case of Perizat Kairat, accused of spending nearly 2 billion tenge collected for flood relief, began on July 9, 2025. In court, prosecutors described how Perizat Kairat spent the money. Kairat herself denied the billion-tenge expenditures. The trial concluded on July 25 — Perizat Kairat was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Her mother was also found guilty and sentenced to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property.
