Aibek Oralbay, captain of Kazakhstan's national boxing team, has won gold at the 2026 Summer Asian Games hosted by Japan, infohub.kz reports.
In the final bout of the over-90-kilogram weight class, the Kazakh boxer faced Jahongir Zokirov of Uzbekistan. Oralbay won by unanimous decision, earning a gold medal for the national team.
The award marks another major international achievement for Oralbay. He is the 2022 Asian champion, has repeatedly represented the country at the biggest international competitions, and competed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Oralbay's gold is Kazakhstan's second in boxing at these Asian Games. Torekhan Sabyrkhan previously claimed the Asian Games 2026 title. The Kazakh boxers have thus added two top-prize medals to the national team's tally.
