A ceremony to lay a commemorative capsule was held in the Abai region, marking the start of construction of the Aidarly Mining and Processing Plant. The new plant will be one of the largest projects in Kazakhstan's mining industry and will make a significant contribution to the country's industrial development, according to infohub.kz.
The ceremony was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Nurlybek Nalibayev, Abai region governor Berik Uali, company management, and partners. The project is being implemented by Aidarly Mining LLP.
Once at full capacity, the Aidarly plant will process 75 million tons of ore per year. It will produce 226,000 tons of copper in copper concentrate and 3,550 tons of molybdenum in molybdenum concentrate annually. The production complex will include a quarry, a crushing plant, a processing plant, energy, transport, and engineering infrastructure, as well as a shift camp with areas for workers' recreation and sports.
Farit Sufyanov, General Director of Aktobe Copper Company LLP, representing the management company, noted that the project has a significant multiplier effect for Kazakhstan's economy.
"More than 3,000 jobs will be created at the Aidarly plant, and we plan to make maximum use of the potential of Kazakh specialists, contractors, and suppliers in implementing the project. According to our estimates, total tax revenues over the entire project period will exceed 1.43 trillion tenge," said Farit Sufyanov, General Director of Aktobe Copper Company LLP.
Eduard Ogay, founder of Aidarly Mining LLP, emphasized that the new plant will give a new impetus to the development of the Abai region and strengthen its industrial potential.
"Today we are moving to a new stage of the Aidarly project – the construction of the future enterprise. This was preceded by extensive preparatory work, including geological exploration, design, and engineering solutions. We believe that Aidarly will contribute to the development of Kazakhstan's mining industry. For us, it is also an investment in the region, new jobs, modern technology, and opportunities for future development," said Eduard Ogay.
One of the key principles of the project will be environmental responsibility. The production is being designed with modern environmental requirements in mind and includes a closed-loop water system that allows water to be treated and reused in the process. After the deposit is depleted, comprehensive reclamation of disturbed lands will be carried out in accordance with the country's environmental legislation.
