Air Astana is opening a new route between Kazakhstan and Japan, with the first direct flight from Almaty to Tokyo scheduled for November 30, 2026, and the return flight from Tokyo set for December 1, 2026, according to infohub.kz.
The flights will operate twice a week to Tokyo's Narita International Airport using Airbus A321LR aircraft equipped with business- and economy-class cabins.
According to the airline, the flight schedule (local time, subject to government approval) is as follows. Flight KC171 from Almaty to Tokyo will operate on Mondays and Thursdays, departing Almaty at 21:55 and arriving in Tokyo at 09:25 the following day. Flight KC172 from Tokyo to Almaty will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing Tokyo at 10:55 and arriving in Almaty at 16:20.
The flight time from Almaty to Tokyo will be 7 hours 30 minutes, and 9 hours 25 minutes in the opposite direction.
The minimum round-trip fare (including all fees) starts at 350,552 tenge in economy class and 1,398,918 tenge in business class.
Japanese citizens may enter Kazakhstan visa-free for stays of up to 30 days. Kazakh citizens require a visa to travel to Japan.
