Residents of Almaty, Aktobe, Atyrau, Petropavlovsk, Kokshetau and Ust-Kamenogorsk were warned of elevated air pollution on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, the website infohub.kz reports.
Forecasters explained that unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) are a combination of short-term weather factors — calm, light wind, fog and inversion. These phenomena contribute to the accumulation of harmful, that is, polluting, substances in the surface layer of atmospheric air.
When UMC occur, air quality may deteriorate in populated areas, affecting people's health.
One of the most important factors determining pollution levels remains the forecast of the synoptic situation — wind, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.
