Specialists from RSE "Kazhydromet" have warned residents of several cities in Kazakhstan about unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) on Friday, August 28, reports infohub.kz.
According to weather forecasters, UMC are expected in Almaty, Aktobe, Balkhash, and at night in Atyrau, Karaganda, and Temirtau.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions are a combination of short-term weather factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
When UMC occur, the air quality in populated areas may deteriorate, affecting human health.
One of the most important factors determining the level of pollution is the forecast of the synoptic situation (wind, precipitation, humidity, air temperature).
Earlier, Kursiv reported that weather forecasters had issued a storm warning for Friday, August 28.
According to Kazhydromet forecasts, most of Kazakhstan will see dry weather on August 28. However, in the northwest, north, and northeast of the country, rain with thunderstorms is expected. In the north, heavy rain is possible at night, and hail in some areas.
Strong winds are forecast across the country. A dust storm is possible in the south. In the north, east, and center, fog is expected at night and in the morning.
