Akbayan Mukangaliyeva, who survived the tragedy in the Atyrau region, has left a psychiatric facility and seen her children for the first time. According to infohub.kz, the woman, who is the daughter and sister of the deceased family members from the village of Zhanheldin, and the ex-wife of convicted Sultan Sarsemaliyev, was able to visit her four children who are currently in a juvenile adaptation center.
According to the Kazinform news agency, Akbayan and Sultan's children reside in a specialized center in the Atyrau region, where they receive an education. The youngest, an eighteen-month-old son, is being raised in a children's home. Kundyz Giniyatova, director of the juvenile adaptation center, confirmed that Mukangaliyeva met with the children for the first time last week, and a second meeting took place on September 1.
Giniyatova explained: "She came to the children as their legal representative. She has not been deprived of parental rights. In general, meetings with children are organized according to a schedule every Friday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. She did not know about this at first. She came on August 27. Later she said she came to congratulate the children on the Day of Knowledge, and she met with them on September 1."
The center's director noted that the children's health and mood are good. The decision to place the children in the center does not specify a duration of stay. Mukangaliyeva's relatives report that she recognizes her children, but she will continue treatment in the future.
Recall that in January of this year, the disappearance of a family of four in the Atyrau region became known: a man, his wife, and their two adult children. The bodies of the elderly couple were found first, then the bodies of their children. The former son-in-law, Sultan Sarsemaliyev, was suspected of the murder. Earlier, the defendant revealed the motives for the crime, and the prosecutor requested a life sentence for him. On July 14, Sarsemaliyev was sentenced to life imprisonment.
