Kazakh gymnast Akmaral Yerekesheva reached the podium at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Grand Prix in the Czech city of Brno, infohub.kz reports.
On Saturday, the gymnasts competed for a set of medals in the individual all-around. Across the four routines, Yerekesheva scored 116.500 points to finish second and take silver.
The Kazakh athlete placed second in every discipline. She was beaten only by Ukraine's Taisiia Onofriichuk, who scored 117.900 points. Poland's Liliana Lewinska took bronze with 108.250 points.
The Brno Grand Prix wraps up on Sunday, September 13. That day will feature the event finals, with the eight best qualifiers advancing. Yerekesheva will compete for medals in all four disciplines — hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon.
It was previously announced that the gymnast has been named to Kazakhstan's squad for the Asian Games. Aibota Yertaikyzy will also represent the country in the individual rhythmic gymnastics program.
