Patrol police in Kazakhstan's Akmola Region stopped a 66-year-old man who, despite being stripped of his driving licence, was once again behind the wheel while intoxicated, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the regional police department's press service, the incident occurred during a patrol in the village of Kenes in Akkol District. Officers pulled over a VAZ-2106 whose driver showed clear signs of intoxication. A medical examination confirmed moderate alcohol intoxication.
Checks revealed that the same man had already been held liable for a similar offence — in 2024. At that time, a court banned him from driving for seven years.
"Despite the standing ban, the man got behind the wheel again after drinking alcohol. Incidentally, the suspect had an explanation for his misconduct: he told police he was forced to drink because of leg pain. But the man from Akmola gave no thought to the safety of other road users," the Akmola Region police department said.
A criminal case has been opened. The circumstances of the incident are being established.
