Ahead of Republic Day, hundreds of families celebrated housewarmings in Akmola Region, with long-awaited apartment keys handed to residents of Shchuchinsk and Shortandy District, the website infohub.kz reports.

In Shchuchinsk, 35 families from socially vulnerable groups received keys to new apartments. Construction of a modern five-story residential complex with 130 apartments began in October last year. The akimat purchased part of the apartments to promptly address the housing needs of people on the waiting list.

Akim of Akmola Region Marat Akhmetzhanov attended the ceremony and personally congratulated the new residents. The regional head stressed that the region firmly holds its position as one of the leaders in housing construction rates among the country's northern and central regions. According to him, more than 700,000 square meters of housing were commissioned in the region in the past period, enabling about 7,000 families to move into new homes.

Since the start of the year, new homes and apartments have already opened their doors to residents of Kokshetau, Kosshy, as well as Arshaly, Burabay, Bulandy, Egindykol, Zerenda and Sandyktau districts. "Such results became possible thanks to the consistent implementation of the tasks set by the head of state. Providing citizens with affordable housing remains one of the important priorities of state policy," Marat Akhmetzhanov noted.

In Burabay District itself, more than 500 families from vulnerable groups have received new housing over the past 3 years, and the work continues: by the end of the year, more than fifty additional apartments are planned to be purchased for citizens on the waiting list.

At the same time, festive housewarmings were also held in Shortandy District, where a new 36-apartment residential building was commissioned. Housing was allocated through Otbasy Bank among citizens officially registered as needing improved housing conditions. The new building is fully connected to central utility networks, and the surrounding area has been landscaped for the comfort of residents.

The celebration was memorable not only for the handing over of keys but also for a useful environmental initiative: district officials, members of the public council and the new residents themselves took part in a mass tree-planting campaign near the new building.
