Patrol police officers stopped a Toyota Alphard at the 29th kilometer of the Astana–Karaganda–Almaty highway after it drew suspicion for being visibly overloaded. The vehicle, designed to seat seven, was carrying 11 passengers, according to infohub.kz.
According to the Akmola Region police department, the driver told officers he had been asked to take people who had been working in a field to Astana. The passengers confirmed his account, saying they work in a field but live in the capital.
But the violations did not end there. Police determined that the vehicle had been modified — the driver's seat had been moved from the right side to the left. The driver had no permits for the structural change.
In addition, the passengers were not wearing seat belts.
As a result, the driver was held administratively liable under three articles at once.
During a check of the passengers' documents, another circumstance emerged: seven of them turned out to be citizens of a neighboring country and did not have the required documents. They were taken to a police station for further investigation.
Based on the results of the inspection, appropriate measures will be taken against those involved in accordance with the law.
