Residents of Aktau have asked the Department of State Audit, the regional department, and the prosecutor's office of the Mangystau Region to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the ambulance service, reports inAktau.kz.
According to residents, ambulances operate without air conditioning, and staff lack special access cards to use elevators in residential buildings. The appeal notes that during extreme summer heat, the absence of air conditioning could negatively impact both patients and medical workers. The number of emergency calls is rising along with temperatures across the country.
Furthermore, residents say ambulance crews are not provided with elevator access cards, causing them to waste precious time during emergency responses. Medics reportedly claim they handle about 30 calls per day. Working in intense heat inside a vehicle without air conditioning is "extremely difficult and dangerous for both medical professionals and patients," according to paramedics quoted in the appeal.
In light of this, residents request an inspection of: the technical condition of ambulances, including the presence and functionality of air conditioning; the material and technical support of the emergency medical service; the quality of medical care during call-outs; and the compliance of working conditions and workload with established requirements.
