Authorities in Aktau have returned 5.9 hectares of commercial land on the Caspian Sea coast to state ownership, the website infohub.kz reports, citing Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture.

According to the ministry's official website, the ruling was issued by a court in response to a lawsuit filed by the Department for Land Resources Management of the Mangystau Region, part of the Committee for Land Resources Management under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The ministry said an unscheduled inspection by the department uncovered violations of land legislation in the allocation of the plots. The land had been granted without holding tenders, the ministry established.

"In order to remedy the violations identified, the Department for Land Resources Management filed a claim with the Specialized Interdistrict Economic Court of the Mangystau Region seeking the return of the land to state ownership," the ministry said.

After reviewing the case, the court upheld the department's claim, and the commercial land was returned to state ownership.
