An electrician who suffered severe injuries after falling from height has won compensation from his employer in court in Aktau, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the official Telegram channel of the Mangystau Region courts, Aktau City Court No. 2 heard a civil case brought by an employee against a joint-stock company seeking compensation for moral damages and lost earnings.

The court established that the plaintiff had worked at the company as a 6th-grade electrician of linear telecommunications structures under an employment contract dated May 13, 2021.

On June 17, 2021, while performing his work duties, he fell from height and sustained severe bodily injuries.

According to the findings of a special investigation by the Mangystau Region Department of the Committee for State Labor Inspection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the accident was recognized as work-related. The employer was found 100% at fault, while the employee was found 0% at fault.

During the trial, the plaintiff sought 10 million tenge in moral damages from the defendant, as well as 1,979,001 tenge in lost earnings due to loss of ability to work.

The court concluded that the claims should be partially satisfied.

Taking into account the plaintiff's health condition and the nature of the moral harm inflicted, the court ruled that the company must pay him 7 million tenge, with the remaining claims denied.

In addition, the defendant was ordered to pay a state duty of 2,162 tenge to the state budget. The court's decision has not yet entered into legal force.
