A woman in Aktau detained for driving under the influence attempted to avoid administrative arrest by presenting a forged medical certificate of pregnancy to the court, according to infohub.kz.

The Mangystau Region Prosecutor's Office reported that police stopped the woman while she was driving intoxicated. Under the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this violation carries a penalty of 15 days' arrest and a 7-year driving ban.

During the court hearing, the offender submitted a medical document confirming pregnancy. Based on this certificate, the court exempted her from administrative arrest, imposing only the additional penalty—a 7-year driver's license revocation.

However, a check conducted by the Aktau Prosecutor's Office revealed that the certificate was forged. Following a prosecutor's protest, the Mangystau Regional Court overturned the first-instance court's ruling and imposed a 15-day arrest.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against both the medical worker and the woman under Article 385 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan for forging and using a forged medical document.
