A medical center in Aktau has been shut down for a month after patients were administered unregistered drugs. Wellness IV drips containing questionable substances were discovered during an unannounced inspection. Nearly 240 packages of medications were seized, according to infohub.kz.
The inspection was prompted by a complaint from a female patient to the regional pharmaceutical control department. After a procedure, she was dissatisfied and demanded a refund, which was denied. Inspectors found that in two treatment rooms, patients were given IV drips for purported health improvement and rejuvenation using drugs that lacked state registration and necessary quality and safety certificates. The court imposed a fine of over 600,000 tenge and suspended operations for one month.
“The organization operated as a beauty salon, advertising health-strengthening services. Medical workers at the facility were operating without a license. Therefore, the department additionally imposed an administrative fine,” said Yerlan Tolepbergen, deputy head of the Department of Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
