In Aktau, a domestic dispute during a drinking session ended in tragedy. A 28-year-old local resident has been found guilty of murder and sentenced to a long prison term, reports infohub.kz.
The Specialized Interdistrict Criminal Court of Mangystau Region heard the case of a 28-year-old resident of Aktau accused of an offense under Part 1 of Article 99 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (murder). According to case materials, the tragedy occurred during a joint drinking session with two other men.
On the evening of February 7, three men gathered in an apartment at 12, 19A District. They brought three bottles of vodka and a bottle of cognac. During the drinking, a conflict arose between two of them.
As the case file shows, during the quarrel, B. struck O. several times with his fist in the eye area. In response, O. picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed his opponent in the chest and left shoulder. Frightened by what he had done, O. dropped the knife in the hallway and left the apartment. Outside, he called an ambulance, but after it arrived, he fled the scene.
B. died at the scene from a fatal injury—a penetrating stab wound to the left side of the chest with damage to the lung, causing massive blood loss.
During the court hearing, the victim's representative asked the court to recover 2,114,920 tenge in material damages (funeral expenses) and 25 million tenge in moral compensation, as well as to impose a strict sentence.
The defendant stated that he sincerely repented and asked for forgiveness from the victim's relatives. He acknowledged the claim for material damages of 2,114,920 tenge but disagreed with the 25 million tenge claim, asking for a more lenient sentence.
The court found O. guilty of murder and sentenced him to 10 years in a medium-security prison. Additionally, the judge ordered the defendant to pay 7 million tenge in moral compensation to the victim's side, 2,162 tenge in state duty, 210,384 tenge in procedural costs to the state, and 129,750 tenge as a mandatory payment to the Victim Compensation Fund.
The claim for 2,114,920 tenge in material damages was referred to civil proceedings.
