A video has circulated on social media allegedly showing an employee of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Aktau in a state of alcohol intoxication. The school has launched an investigation, reports infohub.kz.
According to Lada.kz, in the video published online, students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School ask the teacher why he came to the school intoxicated. In response, the man says that "it just happened" and apologizes for his behavior.
According to the authors of the publication, similar incidents allegedly occurred before. During one such case, the teacher could have spoken rudely to the children and provoked a conflict. However, these claims have not yet been officially confirmed.
The administration of the NIS in Aktau commented on the incident.
"An internal investigation is underway at the school. The stated facts are being checked. After its completion, if violations by the employee are confirmed, measures will be taken in accordance with the Labor Code. They could go as far as dismissal," said Rinat Zhumabayev, director of the NIS in Aktau.
The situation has also been taken under control by the education system of the Mangystau Region. The Ministry of Education reported that after the publication appeared, the regional department for quality assurance in education contacted the NIS to clarify the circumstances.
The ministry noted that Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools are an autonomous educational organization and are independently responsible for organizing the educational process and internal control.
If the information about the incident is confirmed, an assessment will be given not only to the actions of the employee but also to the work of internal control and the actions of officials responsible for student safety.
The investigation is ongoing. Final conclusions will be made after its completion.
