Parents in Aktau are voicing dissatisfaction over school schedules that see some classes end after 8 PM. The city's education department has commented on the situation, reports infohub.kz.
According to the published schedule, the seventh and final lesson of the second shift ends at 8:05 PM. Gaukhar Tleu kulova, head of the educational work sector at the Aktau education department, confirmed that in some schools, the last lesson of the second shift does indeed end at this time. She explained that the end time is due to the academic load and the compiled schedule.
There are 36 public secondary schools in Aktau. Of these, 35 operate in two shifts, while school No. 31 runs three shifts. Tleu kulova assured that during the second and third quarters, lesson duration will be reduced from 45 to 40 minutes. This will shorten the time students in the second shift spend returning home.
The official also commented on the possibility of introducing a third shift in other schools. She noted that currently, three-shift education is only organized at school No. 31 in the 17th microdistrict due to high student numbers. No third shifts are planned for other schools in the city.
