In Aktau, a customer discovered a perfume substitution after arriving home. The store refused to exchange the item, and the consumer had to seek help from officials, reports infohub.kz.
The buyer in Aktau purchased Tom Ford Lost Cherry as a gift, but instead received Tom Ford Electric Cherry. The packaging of the two perfumes looks similar, so the mistake was only noticed after returning home.
The product had not been opened or used. The packaging and the perfume's original condition were preserved.
The same day, the customer asked the seller to exchange the incorrectly issued item for Tom Ford Lost Cherry or refund the money. However, the seller refused.
"After that, the consumer sent a written claim to the seller, but the issue remained unresolved. Then he turned to the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection for assistance. Specialists reviewed the complaint and conducted appropriate work with the seller. As a result, the customer's demand was satisfied, and the incorrectly issued perfume was replaced with the purchased Tom Ford Lost Cherry," the department reported.
The department reminded consumers of the importance of checking goods at the time of purchase. If a discrepancy is found, it is recommended to keep the packaging, the product's appearance, and documents confirming the purchase.
"If the seller refuses to meet legal requirements, the consumer can contact us for clarification and assistance in protecting their rights," the department concluded.
