Residents of a massive residential complex in Aktau are suffering from a lack of water in 40°C heat due to power outages caused by the developer's mistakes. People are demanding that the situation be fixed, reports infohub.kz.
According to residents, in the midst of the July heat when temperatures reach nearly 40°C, overloads cause power cuts. Without electricity, drinking water supply and elevators stop working. "If the power goes out, we have no water. Because in all multi-story buildings now, water is supplied by pumps. And due to the lack of electricity, water supply stops. The upper floors are left without water. The first request is: fix the electricity issue," says resident Asyl Aldabergenkazy.
The residential complex has 800 apartments and about 1,500 residents, including children and the elderly. Many prefer not to leave their homes because they have to climb stairs to upper floors. Meruert Kosherbayeva, head of the service company, said: "As soon as summer started, the electricity keeps cutting out. The drinking water pumps stop working. Then the elevators stop. Since the beginning of summer, we have already burned out four pumps due to these outages. We repair them and reinstall them. But if this continues, all equipment will fail."
Residents claim that the developer, who handed over the building four years ago, has still not transferred the necessary documents to the power supply company, making the lines ownerless. A collective appeal to the relevant authorities yielded no results. The akimat explained that the main cause of the outages is excessive load on the power grid and the absence of a backup cable. Asset Baspayev, chief specialist of the housing and communal services department of the Aktau city akimat, commented: "The construction organization should have laid two cables at the time. However, today there is only one here. That is, there is no backup cable. Therefore, in the event of a power outage, restoration work takes a certain amount of time. The cable lines have already been purchased. Work on their installation is underway according to the city's schedule." Precise completion dates were not given, but they promised to start within a week.
