An abandoned stand on the embankment in the 5A microdistrict has again drawn the attention of local residents. The ruined seating area is overgrown with grass, reports infohub.kz.
The structure has been neglected for years: the concrete is crumbling, and the seats are gradually being overtaken by weeds. Residents have once again raised the issue of the stand's condition. "Every time you come here, it looks like a battlefield. The seats have long faded, become unusable, and are broken. Everything is falling apart. And yet, from here you have a view of the sea," local residents complain.
The city administration said that a project to improve the coastal zone is currently being implemented, commissioned by the city's construction department and funded by NCOC. The project includes the construction of walking alleys, cycling and running tracks, observation decks, piers, overwater trails, recreation areas, and other amenities.
It also provides for phased repair work on the embankment. The public space, with a total length of 4.5 kilometers, will cover the area from the "I Love Aktau" sign in the 7th microdistrict to the rocky trail. The project will be implemented in stages until 2029.
However, the administration's response did not specify a concrete timeline for repairing the stand in the 5A microdistrict.
