A city court in Aktau has convicted a man of stalking a woman and sentenced him to 100 hours of community service, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the official Telegram channel of the courts of the Mangystau Region, the Aktau City Court heard a criminal case against a defendant accused of unlawful stalking — actions aimed at establishing contact with and/or tracking a person against their will, not involving violence but causing significant harm (Article 115-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan).
The court established that between August and October 2026 the defendant committed unlawful acts against the victim: he followed her, came to her home, knocked on the door of her apartment, removed and took a flash drive from a video camera installed above her apartment, disconnected her internet, and repeatedly harassed her with calls and messages on WhatsApp.
As a result of these actions, her constitutional rights and freedoms were violated.
The prosecutor asked the court to find the defendant guilty and sentence him to 25 days' arrest.
The defendant fully admitted the charge against him, apologized and asked for a lighter punishment.
The victim said she did not forgive the defendant and asked for a strict punishment. The court recognized the defendant's full admission of guilt and remorse as circumstances mitigating his liability and punishment.
No aggravating circumstances were established in the case.
The court found the man guilty under Article 115-1 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 100 hours of community service. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
