In Aktobe, residents of three apartment buildings built under a state program are raising the alarm: their homes are riddled with cracks, through which neighbors can see each other, reports infohub.kz.
Residents of three new nine-story buildings erected under the state program in Aktobe are demanding urgent resettlement. According to the townspeople, in just two years the buildings have become covered with cracks. Gaps have formed in the walls, through which residents from different apartments can see each other. One of the cracks, starting on the upper floors, has already descended almost to the very bottom. People fear that the walls may not hold up and insist on the resettlement of all three buildings.
“We are essentially living in an emergency situation. There are many disabled people, elderly people, children, and large families here. We don’t want to live in fear every day, wondering if we’ll wake up tomorrow, if we’ll survive,” says Aktobe resident Aigul Kazhenova.
More than 200 families live in the three nine-story buildings. The apartments here were given to those on the waiting list: people with disabilities, orphans, and large families.
“At night there are some crackling sounds. Everything was fine with me, and at one point I got small cracks. It’s life-threatening. We demand that we be provided with new housing. The experts came and told us it would take 15-20 days to study this building. But residents have no opportunity to move elsewhere,” says Aktobe resident Botagoz Shakuova.
After residents’ complaints, the akimat launched an inspection. “As of today, on the ninth floor and the technical floor, it’s not cracks but the panel itself that has come away, and in this regard, we have invited experts. After the experts’ conclusion, a design solution will be adopted, according to which it will be fixed. At the moment, there is no threat of the building collapsing,” said Bauyrzhan Zhanturin, head of the construction department of the Aktobe akimat.
