FC Aktobe has announced a head coaching change for the second time this season. Igor Cherevchenko has been appointed as the club's new head coach, reports infohub.kz.
According to the club's official statement, details of the contract with the 51-year-old Tajik-Russian specialist have not been disclosed. His coaching staff also includes Yuri Baturenko and Mikhail Solovey.
Before Cherevchenko, Aktobe had been coached since April by Slovak Stefan Tarkovic, who had previously replaced Bulgarian Nikolay Kostov. In the last two matches, Kazakh Yernar Zhalbyrov served as interim head coach.
Cherevchenko is a native of Dushanbe and a former defender for the Tajikistan national team. He began his coaching career in 2008. His resume includes Istiklol Dushanbe, where he won three Tajik league titles, as well as Russian clubs Lokomotiv Moscow, Baltika Kaliningrad, Arsenal Tula, Khimki and Fakel Voronezh.
In the current season, Aktobe has picked up 31 points from 19 Kazakhstan Premier League games and occupies fourth place. Above it are Kairat Almaty (45 points), Ordabasy Shymkent (43) and Astana (32).
