Police in Aktobe have identified the driver of an electric bicycle who hit a 12-year-old girl and fled the scene of the accident. The incident occurred on July 30 on Abulkhair Khan Avenue, reports infohub.kz.

According to preliminary data from the police department of Aktobe region, the man on the electric bicycle struck the girl, who was riding a bicycle. After the collision, he did not provide the necessary assistance to the victim and left the scene. As a result, the minor sustained bodily injuries.

During operational search measures, police officers identified the offender and brought him to the police station. He turned out to be a 58-year-old resident of Aktobe. A pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the incident, during which all circumstances are being established.

Based on the investigation results, a procedural decision will be made in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Earlier, it was reported that Aktobe police were searching for a bicycle courier who had hit a 12-year-old girl and fled the scene.

The girl's mother said that the child was taken by ambulance to the regional children's hospital. Doctors diagnosed the girl with a fracture of the upper jaw and cheekbone, as well as knocked-out front teeth.
