Owners of expensive mansions in an elite district of Aktobe have been driving on broken dirt roads for years, complaining about dust and, in rainy weather, mud, reports infohub.kz.
This year, residents were finally promised asphalt, a contractor was selected, and work began. But it suddenly turned out that the money had run out.
"It's already August. Weather conditions are getting worse. Autumn, rains. We are worried: will the work be completed? If the deadlines are delayed, it will affect the quality of work and the cost. You understand, inflation is ongoing, materials are getting more expensive," said Umirbek Zhulumbetov.
It is noted that there used to be dachas on the site of the cottage community. Despite the district's status, six streets of the 'Sazdinskoye Lesnichestvo' residential area still lack asphalt.
Residents of nearly 150 houses have to deal with mud and dust, and this is in the center of Aktobe.
Everything was supposed to change this year. The authorities included the project in the plan, selected a contractor. The contractor even received an initial payment and started work. However, they never got to asphalting. It turned out there was no more money. Now the project worth 1.7 billion tenge is postponed indefinitely.
"In 2025, 120 million tenge was allocated from the city budget. These funds have been spent. Engineering networks have been laid, gas networks have been rearranged. Also, installation of substations for lighting. Today, due to the lack of funding at the moment, we are waiting for financing," said Yestek Kenzhebek, head of the sector of the Department of Housing and Utilities, Passenger Transport and Highways of the Aktobe akimat.
