A convicted man in the Aktobe Region escaped from a temporary detention center by climbing through the roof of the building and found himself back in the dock. He now faces two years in a maximum-security colony, reports infohub.kz.

According to case materials, a 33-year-old resident of a village in the Kargaly District was driving under the influence of alcohol while already stripped of his driver's license. For this violation, he was given a real prison term. However, just days after the verdict was announced, the man managed to escape from the temporary detention center of the Kargaly District police department in Badamsha.

It was established that the convicted man was on an evening walk in the inner courtyard of the detention center. He unlocked a padlock on a door, entered another exercise yard, where he pushed a protruding shell rock in the wall, broke the rebar, and climbed onto the roof of the building. He then managed to get over the barbed wire and to freedom.

However, the fugitive did not get far — he was detained the same day. As a result, the man received a second charge for escaping from places of deprivation of liberty (Article 426 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan). He fully admitted his guilt and told the court that after escaping, he walked around the village of Kempirsai and got into a passing car to Aktobe, but was detained by police on the way.

The court sentenced the defendant to one and a half years of imprisonment, but taking into account the unserved sentence for the previous crime, finally determined two years of confinement. He will serve the new term not in a general regime, but in a maximum-security colony, where the order is significantly stricter.
