In Aktobe, three young men have been detained on suspicion of extorting 2 million tenge from a local resident. According to investigators, the suspects first stole the victim's mobile phone and then, several months later, demanded a large sum of money from him, reports infohub.kz.
As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a young man filed a police complaint stating that he was being threatened and demanded to hand over 2 million tenge.
"It has been preliminarily established that at the end of 2025, the suspects took possession of the victim's phone. Subsequently, they demanded an additional 2 million tenge. During the transfer of the money, the suspects were detained by police officers red-handed," the Ministry said.
The detained individuals are three young men. A pre-trial investigation into the extortion is currently underway.
During a search at the residence of one of the suspects, police seized a traumatic pistol, a knife, and a 16-gauge cartridge for a smoothbore hunting rifle. Expert examinations have been ordered, and a legal assessment will be made based on the results.
Investigators are continuing to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a man was shot dead in the Zhambyl region. According to police, a criminal case has been opened into the murder, and the suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. Relatives of the deceased stated that the man had been repeatedly threatened before and asked for an objective investigation.
