In Aktobe, a court has concluded the trial of two men who extorted money from a car parts store seller for over a month, threatening him with a knife and arson. The total damage exceeded one million tenge, reports infohub.kz.
According to the publication "Diapazon", the victim worked as a seller in a car parts boutique. The first to demand money was a 24-year-old acquaintance, who asked for 20,000 tenge. A few days later, he reappeared at the seller's workplace and took 400,000 tenge.
Later, his friend joined him, and together they began to visit the boutique regularly, demanding money. To intimidate the victim further, they showed a knife and threatened to burn down the boutique along with its goods. The frightened young man gave the extortionists everything they asked for, even taking out a loan. This situation lasted for over a month, and in the end, the total amount handed over reached 1,020,000 tenge.
In court, both defendants admitted their guilt and asked for leniency, as they had fully compensated the victim. The seller confirmed that the men had indeed come with knives and that he had to take out a loan for part of the money out of fear for his life and the goods.
Despite the seriousness of the charges, the victim stated that he had no claims against the defendants, forgave them, and signed a mediation agreement with them. As a result, both avoided real prison time and remained free. The court sentenced them to three years of restriction of freedom and ordered them to register at the employment center as unemployed.
