A court in Kazakhstan's Aktobe Region has convicted the head of several agricultural production cooperatives of fraudulently obtaining budget subsidies worth more than 91 million tenge, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the Prosecutor General's Office, the illegal subsidy payments were uncovered by the Martuk District prosecutor's office during an audit of the lawful and effective spending of budget funds. The case involved fraud on an especially large scale.
The supervisory agency said in its official Telegram channel: "It was established that the head of the agricultural production cooperatives Tomiris-2019, Martuk-2030 and Tenge-2030, acting out of self-interest between 2023 and 2025, illegally obtained subsidies by submitting knowingly false information, causing damage to the state amounting to more than 91 million tenge."
The district prosecutor's office opened criminal cases under Part 4, Article 190, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The woman was brought to trial.
The Martuk District Court found her guilty and sentenced her to 6 years and 8 months in prison, along with a ban on holding managerial positions in commercial organizations. Because the convicted woman has young children, the execution of her sentence was deferred.
