In Aktobe, a 10-year-old girl is in a coma after being hit by a car. Doctors are fighting for her life, reports infohub.kz.
The incident occurred in a residential area of the city. Local resident Svetlana Rozbakh said her daughter Katya went to a nearby store for buns and did not return. When her parents began to worry, a neighbor called and told them about the terrible accident.
"Twenty minutes passed after she left. I started to worry. We began to call her, but her phone was turned off. My husband was getting dressed to go look for her. Then, literally 30 seconds later, her phone rang. I picked up, and it was a neighbor saying she had been hit by a car," said the girl's mother, Svetlana.
The child was rushed to the hospital, where she has been unconscious for four days. Doctors assess her condition as critical. Samat Kokshibaev, head of the neurosurgery department at the Aktobe Regional Multidisciplinary Children's Hospital, said: "Given the severity of the child's condition, resuscitation measures were started. Further examinations were conducted - CT scan, X-ray. As of today, the child's condition remains critically severe. Open craniocerebral injury, brain contusion, rib fractures, pelvic fractures, contusion of internal organs."
According to preliminary data, the accident occurred near a railway crossing where there was a traffic jam. The driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt, according to police, hit the schoolgirl who was crossing the road in an undesignated place. Investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the accident.
The police department of Aktobe region commented: "The driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt, moving along Embinskaya Street, hit a minor born in 2015, who was crossing the roadway outside a pedestrian crossing. A pre-trial investigation is being conducted into the fact of the accident."
