Women in Kazakhstan's Aktobe Region have fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme built on promises of high returns from gold investments, the website infohub.kz reports.

According to the information and media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, several fraud cases have been registered in the region. The perpetrators posted advertisements on social media guaranteeing that investments would double. Citizens were urged to put money into a supposedly profitable business reselling gold items, with promises of high percentages of the proceeds.

Several local women fell victim to the scheme. In particular, a 33-year-old resident of Aktobe transferred 1.5 million tenge to the fraudsters' accounts. Another city resident lost 1.65 million tenge after believing promises of income from her investments.

After receiving the money, the perpetrators stopped communicating and their social media profiles disappeared. Investigative measures are underway in connection with these cases under the article "Fraud."

"Do not trust offers of quick enrichment: there are no legal financial instruments that are guaranteed to double investments in a short period of time. Be cautious about promises of high returns from reselling gold, cryptocurrency or stocks, especially if such offers come through messengers and social media," police said.
