An Aktobe resident hoping for a high salary in Europe lost his money and ended up homeless due to scammers. He transferred 600,000 tenge for help with job placement in Lithuania, but after arriving in the country, he was left without work or support, reports the website infohub.kz.
The man was promised that he would be met in Lithuania, helped with documents, and matched with a suitable vacancy. In addition to the service fee, he bought his own train ticket to Almaty, then a plane ticket to Lithuania, and also paid for a residence permit. He spent 365,000 tenge on travel and another 94,000 tenge on the residence permit.
However, upon arrival, no one met him. He was not provided with a job, his money ran out, and he had nowhere to stay. Relatives helped him return home by sending funds for the return trip. He spent about a week in Lithuania.
After returning, the Aktobe resident filed a complaint with the National Chamber of Consumers. Through the court, he managed to recover all expenses incurred and also received 200,000 tenge in compensation for moral damages. As told by Islam Bolatov, president of the Republican Public Association "National Chamber of Consumers," the man is now doing well, has started his own business, and no longer believes in dubious job promises.
