In Aktobe, the head of the limited liability partnership ZHAN-AMI i K stood trial for processing more than 1,400 tonnes of hazardous oil waste without a state licence. The illegally earned income of 393 million tenge has been confiscated in favour of the state, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the Aktobe Region prosecutor's office, citing the environmental prosecutor's office, the company processed hazardous oil waste without the required licence in 2024–2025. The income from this activity amounted to 393 million tenge.
Based on the findings of the prosecutors' inspection, a pre-trial investigation was launched and conducted by the Department of Economic Investigations.
On 17 August 2026, Aktobe Court No. 2 found the head of the company guilty under point 2 of part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to two years and six months of restriction of liberty with confiscation of property.
Under an amnesty law, the director was released from the main sentence. The illegally earned income, however, was confiscated in favour of the state.
The appellate instance left the verdict unchanged. It has entered into legal force.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that in Zhambyl Region companies transferred hazardous waste to firms without licences or concluded fictitious disposal contracts while reporting the waste as handed over to licensed organisations. Eight companies were fined a total of about 5 million tenge.
