In Aktobe, a scandal is brewing over the felling of green spaces. Local residents are outraged by the destruction of mature trees in the triathlon park, reports infohub.kz.
According to eyewitnesses, machinery has leveled dozens of trees on the site of a dense green area. The territory has already been cleared and leveled by tractors, as evidenced by the remaining stumps and uprooted roots.
"It's painful to look at this, what kind of attitude is this towards the city. Thousands of people come here, not only athletes, people like to walk in this park, especially in the green part," the publication "Diapazon" quotes a local resident.
Residents note that attempts to build on this site have been made before. In 2024, the area was already fenced off, but then, under public pressure, the felling was halted. This time, the work was carried out quickly and without prior notice to the public.
Among the citizens, rumors are spreading that the plot is privately owned and intended for commercial development. On social media, Aktobe residents express outrage, noting the contradiction between official reports of planting young seedlings and the regular felling of mature, healthy trees in recreational areas.
Currently, residents are demanding that the city administration and the architecture department provide official explanations: whether the felling is legal, on what basis the land near the park ended up in private hands, and who issued the permit for the destruction of trees.
