The Kazakh government has allocated 6.5 billion tenge from its reserve for the initial phase of construction of a new football stadium in Aktobe. The new arena is intended to solve a long-standing shortage of seating and allow the region to host international matches, the website infohub.kz reports.
The sports complex will be built in the western part of the city on a 25-hectare plot. The arena's designed capacity is up to 35,000 spectators. The facility's infrastructure has been fully designed to meet the fourth-level standards of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
The construction plan includes a five-story sports facility with a total area of more than 80,000 square meters. In addition to the main football pitch and spectator stands, the complex will include dedicated team areas, training facilities for developing young athletes, and equipped sections for media representatives.
The project is being implemented in three phases. The 6.5 billion tenge allocated from the reserve is intended to cover the costs of the first phase of work, which has already begun this year. Full completion of construction and commissioning of the facility are scheduled for September 2028.
Aktobe's current Central Stadium has been in operation since 1975 and seats only 13,000. At the same time, attendance analytics for home matches of the local football club show that the number of people wanting to buy tickets for games regularly exceeds the outdated arena's actual capacity by nearly three times.
