Residents of the Tansholpan residential area, located 10 kilometers from Aktobe, have been waiting for nine years for the construction of a school, kindergarten, and other social facilities. Despite promises made after their relocation, children still have to travel to the city for school, reports infohub.kz.
The neighborhood began to be developed after the floods of 2017, when land plots were allocated to families affected by the disaster. Since then, residents have built about 170 houses, and most families are raising several children.
"Children are taken to school by bus – at least there is one. But my two grandchildren study six kilometers from here. We ask first of all to build a school and a kindergarten," said Dari Amanshina, a resident.
According to local residents, they have repeatedly appealed to the akimat (local administration), but the issue remains unresolved. People say that during relocation, they were promised the necessary infrastructure.
"When we were relocated after the flood in 2017, they promised to build roads, a school, and create all conditions. Those who could built houses; those who couldn't sold their plots. And in the end, we have nothing," said Bibigul Urgenishbayeva, a resident.
The city education department reported that currently 65 school-age children live in the area. A special bus has been arranged to transport them to school and back daily.
"In accordance with the Aktobe city master plan, a 2.8-hectare plot has been allocated in the Tansholpan residential area for the construction of a general education school. According to the social infrastructure development plan, construction of a school with 300 places is scheduled for 2028," said Metkul Kosymbayeva, head of the city education department.
The issue of a kindergarten remains open. The akimat explained that they hope to implement such a project with the participation of a private investor, so the timeline for its construction has not yet been determined.
