Saudi side Al-Nassr, featuring Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, suffered a crushing away defeat to the UAE's Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League Elite, according to infohub.kz.

The opening-round match of the league phase was played at Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Stadium in Al-Ain and ended 4-0 in favor of the hosts.

Houssin Rahimi scored twice, finding the net in the 25th and 63rd minutes. Fellow Moroccan forward Soufiane Rahimi added another goal in the 72nd minute. Greek striker Georgios Giakoumakis completed the scoring in the 85th minute.

Ronaldo started for the visitors and played the full match wearing the captain's armband.

Al-Ain earned three points and topped the West Conference table on tiebreakers. Al-Nassr sit in last place, 16th.

After eight rounds of the league phase, the top eight teams from each of the West and East Conferences will advance to the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League Elite.
