The shores of Lake Alakol in the Zhetysu region remain one of Kazakhstan's most popular vacation destinations. During a working visit to the area, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports Miras Tulebaev, together with Deputy Akim of the region Marlen Kolbaev, inspected the resort zone, assessing infrastructure changes, sanitary conditions, and safety measures, according to the infohub.kz website.
Based on past seasons, Alakol has shown steady growth in popularity. Domestic tourist flow reached 382,000 people, an increase of 11%. Interest from foreigners also grew significantly, with the number of international visitors rising by 60% to 8,200 people. Currently, 224 accommodation facilities operate on the coast, capable of accommodating over 21,000 vacationers at a time.
The inspection noted the completion of power supply facilities, the construction of sewer networks in the village of Akshi, as well as work on building treatment plants, public beaches, and a new railway station at Lepsy station, reported the press service of the Ministry of Tourism.
For safety, there are 40 rescue towers, 13 km of buoy lines, and 7 piers. Police officers maintain order daily, and rescue teams are on duty around the clock on the water. Since the start of the season, more than 150 preventive patrols have been conducted, the department added.
Recall that Alakol is expected to welcome a record 2 million tourists this year. This was reported by the akim of Zhetysu region, Beibit Isabaev, at a government meeting.
